Description

A comforting homemade custard pie topped with a sweet and crunchy praline sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Pie Crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Butter (melted)
  • 1 cup Chopped Nuts (Pecans or Walnuts)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. If using a homemade crust, roll it out, fit it into your pie dish, and pre-bake for 10 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla in a mixing bowl until combined.
  4. Add melted butter and mix well.
  5. Carefully pour the custard mixture into the pre-baked crust.
  6. Bake for approximately 35 to 40 minutes until the custard is set but slightly jiggly in the center. Let cool slightly.
  7. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and a splash of water until dissolved. Add chopped nuts and cook until bubbly and golden, stirring continuously. Remove from heat.
  8. Drizzle the praline sauce over your cooled pie and serve.

Notes

For the perfect custard texture, whisk well and monitor baking time closely. Pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
