Description

Tender meatballs simmering in a rich, savory onion sauce, perfect for busy days or cozy evenings at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
  • 1 Egg (or flax egg for vegan option)
  • 1 packet Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 cup Beef Broth (or vegetable broth)
  • 1 cup Cheese (Swiss, Gruyère, or mozzarella)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, and half the onion soup mix. Mix until just combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and set aside.
  3. Optional: Sear the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat until browned on the outside.
  4. Place the meatballs in the crockpot and pour the beef broth over them. Sprinkle the remaining onion soup mix on top.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  6. About 30 minutes before serving, add the cheese on top, cover, and let it melt.

Notes

For best results, use fresh ingredients and don’t overwork the meat mixture.
