Description

A nostalgic classic cherry pie featuring a flaky crust and a sweet-tart cherry filling, perfect for any dessert table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, dotted on top
  • 2 pie crusts, homemade or store-bought

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Prepare the cherries by pitting and slicing fresh ones, or thawing and draining frozen ones.
  3. In a bowl, mix cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and cinnamon until combined.
  4. Roll out half of the dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan, fill it with the cherry mixture, and dot with butter.
  5. Cover with the second half of the dough, seal the edges, and cut slits in the top for steam to escape.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Let cool for about an hour before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, preferably with vanilla ice cream or freshly whipped cream.
