Description

These classic butter thumbprint cookies are a delightful treat, filled with sweet jam and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam (strawberry, raspberry, or apricot)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Gradually stir in the flour and salt until just combined.
  5. Cover the bowl and chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  6. Once chilled, scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Create an indent in the center of each cookie using your thumb or a wooden spoon.
  8. Spoon a small amount of jam into each indentation.
  9. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Try using different flavors of jam for a unique twist. You can also substitute butter with vegan options if desired.
