These classic butter thumbprint cookies are a delightful treat, filled with sweet jam and perfect for any occasion.

- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup fruit jam (strawberry, raspberry, or apricot)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually stir in the flour and salt until just combined.
- Cover the bowl and chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
- Once chilled, scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Create an indent in the center of each cookie using your thumb or a wooden spoon.
- Spoon a small amount of jam into each indentation.
- Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Try using different flavors of jam for a unique twist. You can also substitute butter with vegan options if desired.
