Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Tear stale bread into bite-sized pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread and let it sit for 15 minutes.
- If using, add raisins or chocolate chips and stir gently.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving.
