- 8 cups stale bread, torn into pieces
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- Optional: 1/2 cup raisins or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Tear the stale bread into bite-sized pieces and place in a large mixing bowl.
- In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until frothy.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread pieces, gently folding to ensure all are soaked.
- If desired, add raisins or chocolate chips.
- Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish and bake for 35 to 45 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
