Ingredients

- 4 cups stale bread (challah or brioche), cubed
- 2 cups whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter (for greasing)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup raisins or nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the bread into bite-sized cubes, about one-inch pieces.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla.
- Fold the bread cubes into the custard mixture, ensuring every piece is soaked. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the mixture evenly into the dish.
- If desired, sprinkle raisins or nuts on top.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
