- 8 cups stale bread, cut into cubes
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast for about 10 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Add the toasted bread and chocolate chips to the custard mixture. Stir gently and let sit for about 10 minutes to soak.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and bake for 45-50 minutes until set and golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving with cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Use stale bread for best texture; you can prepare the mixture the night before and let it soak in the fridge.
