Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Turkey (or plant-based meat for a vegetarian option)
  • 1 can Chili Beans (kidney or black beans)
  • 1 cup Chili Sauce
  • 32 oz Tater Tots
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheese (Cheddar and Monterey Jack)
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 Bell Pepper, diced
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Brown the Meat: Cook the ground beef or turkey in a pan over medium heat until brown and crumbly. Drain excess fat.
  3. Sauté the Veggies: Add chopped onion and garlic to the meat and sauté until softened. Add diced bell peppers and cook for a couple more minutes.
  4. Mix in the Chili Ingredients: Stir in chili beans and chili sauce, season with salt and pepper, and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  5. Assemble the Casserole: In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, spread the chili mixture on the bottom and sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
  6. Add the Tater Tots: Arrange tater tots over the cheese layer, covering as much as possible.
  7. Bake: Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until tater tots are golden brown and cheese is bubbling.
  8. Cool & Serve: Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
