Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- 4 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup whole milk
- 4 tbsp butter
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then stir in the cream cheese until melted.
- Slowly add the milk, stirring continuously to keep it smooth.
- Gradually stir in the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese until melted into a creamy sauce.
- Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
- Drain the cooked pasta and pour the cheese sauce over it. Stir until well coated.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with more cheese if desired, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes until bubbly.
Notes
Keep the pasta al dente to prevent mushy mac and cheese. Grate cheese from a block for better melting.
