- 2 cups elbow macaroni
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat with chopped onions and minced garlic until browned; drain excess fat.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, whisk in flour to form a roux, slowly add milk while stirring, then mix in cheddar until melted.
- Combine the beef and drained macaroni in the skillet, pour the cheese sauce over and stir until well coated.
- Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with more cheese if desired, and bake at 350°F for about 20 minutes until bubbly.
