Description

A delightful twist on classic upside-down cake with fresh apples and luscious caramel, perfect for fall gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and stir in 1/2 cup of brown sugar until bubbly. Add sliced apples and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Pour the cooked apples into a greased, round cake pan.
  4. In a bowl, beat remaining butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, ensuring each is incorporated.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add to the butter mixture, alternating with milk, until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter over the apples in the pan.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully flip onto a plate.
