Description

A breathtaking upside-down pie featuring tender caramelized apples atop buttery pastry, drizzled with rich caramel for a cozy and festive dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 firm apples (like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (pre-rolled)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples, then toss in a bowl with lemon juice and set aside.
  3. In an oven-proof skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Gradually add sugar, stirring until melted and golden.
  4. Arrange apple slices over the caramel and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  5. Cook on the stovetop for about 10 minutes until apples are tender and coated in caramel.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry to cover the apples and tuck the edges into the skillet.
  7. Place in the oven and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden.
  8. Let cool for a minute, then invert onto a plate to serve.

Notes

Pairs beautifully with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream. Allow to cool slightly before flipping to avoid spills.
