Description

A scrumptious dessert combining rich bread pudding with tart apples and drizzled caramel. Perfect for cozy family dinners or as a delightful treat for guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups day-old challah or brioche bread, cubed
  • 3 tart apples, such as Granny Smith, chopped
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish and chop your bread into cubes.
  2. In a skillet, heat a little butter and sauté your chopped apples with some sugar and cinnamon until they are tender.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla until homogenous.
  4. Layer your bread cubes in the baking dish, pour the custard over them, ensuring they are soaked, and gently mix in the sautéed apples.
  5. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until the top is golden and a knife comes out clean.
  6. Douse with caramel sauce and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use stale bread for better absorption. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence.
