Description
A classic dessert that features fluffy vanilla cake filled with creamy custard and topped with rich chocolate ganache.

- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup whole milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy (3-4 minutes).
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients and milk until smooth.
- Pour batter into two greased round cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- While cakes bake, heat heavy cream in a saucepan and whisk in cornstarch and sugar until thickened into custard.
- Allow cakes to cool, then layer with custard and top with ganache made from melted chocolate and cream.
- Chill in the refrigerator before serving for best texture.
Notes
Serve chilled and pair with fresh berries or vanilla ice cream. Room temperature ingredients yield the best results.
