Description
A delightful dessert that combines fluffy cake, rich custard, and a shiny chocolate glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (softened)
- 2 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 4 large Eggs
- 1 cup Milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1 cup Heavy Cream
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together.
- In another bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the eggs one at a time and add the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture and milk, alternating them until just combined.
- Pour the cake batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cakes cool, heat milk in a saucepan. In another bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch.
- Slowly pour the hot milk over the yolk mixture, whisking constantly, then return it to the saucepan and cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and let it cool completely.
- Heat heavy cream until hot but not boiling, then pour it over chocolate chips and stir until smooth to prepare ganache.
- Assemble by placing one layer of cake on a plate, spreading custard over it, topping it with the second layer, and pouring ganache on top.
- Slice and serve!
Notes
Make sure the butter is at room temperature and don’t skip the chilling time for the custard. You can make cakes a day in advance.
