Description

A delightful dessert that combines fluffy cake, rich custard, and a shiny chocolate glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (softened)
  • 2 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together.
  3. In another bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the eggs one at a time and add the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture and milk, alternating them until just combined.
  6. Pour the cake batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. While the cakes cool, heat milk in a saucepan. In another bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch.
  8. Slowly pour the hot milk over the yolk mixture, whisking constantly, then return it to the saucepan and cook until thickened.
  9. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and let it cool completely.
  10. Heat heavy cream until hot but not boiling, then pour it over chocolate chips and stir until smooth to prepare ganache.
  11. Assemble by placing one layer of cake on a plate, spreading custard over it, topping it with the second layer, and pouring ganache on top.
  12. Slice and serve!

Notes

Make sure the butter is at room temperature and don’t skip the chilling time for the custard. You can make cakes a day in advance.
