Description

A fun and spooky twist on traditional popcorn that adds a splash of color and flavor, perfect for movie nights or Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup popcorn kernels
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • Red food coloring (a few drops)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn according to package instructions until you have about 10 cups of popped popcorn.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then remove from heat.
  3. Add sugar, corn syrup, and a pinch of salt to the melted butter and stir well. Return to low heat and mix in red food coloring until desired color is achieved.
  4. Pour the syrup over the popcorn in a large bowl, tossing to coat evenly.
  5. Spread the coated popcorn on a parchment-lined baking sheet and allow to cool and harden for about 30 minutes.
  6. Once set, break apart and serve in Halloween-themed bags or bowls.

Notes

For extra fun, you can mix in candy pieces or nuts after coating the popcorn.
