Description

A fail-proof cinnamon roll recipe that yields soft and gooey rolls, perfect for creating cherished memories in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm, about 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (to achieve desired consistency)

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Pour in the warm milk and melted butter, then add the eggs. Mix until combined and knead for 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick on a floured surface.
  5. Spread the softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly.
  6. Add chopped nuts if desired, and roll the dough tightly from one end to form a log.
  7. Slice the log into 12 even pieces and place in a greased baking dish.
  8. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  10. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden.
  11. Make the cream cheese frosting by mixing the cream cheese and butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, thinning with milk to desired consistency.
  12. Spread the frosting over warm rolls before serving.
