Instructions

- In another bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.

- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined; avoid overmixing.
- Fold in diced apples and optional nuts.
- Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool in the pan briefly, then cool completely on a wire rack.
