- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line an 8×8 inch pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat, then let it cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar; whisk until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Gradually add flour and salt, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in sliced almonds and almond extract.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until edges are golden and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
For a vegan option, substitute eggs with chia seeds mixed with water. Consider adding chocolate chips for an indulgent twist.
